Indoor Air Quality
Indoor air is defined as any non-industrial indoor space where a person spends a period of an hour or more in any day and can include the office, classroom, motor vehicle, shopping centre, hospital and home. Indoor Air Quality must be of a sufficient standard to ensure the adequate protection of human health and well-being.
EHS employs qualified Occupational Hygienists experienced in identifying and measuring atmospheric contaminants generated from industrial processes. We evaluate the risks and report the results and recommend control measures to protect people working in those environments.
Crystalline silica has been recognised for many years as a cause of respiratory diseases such as silicosis. Environmental Health Solutions (EHS) employs experienced, qualified occupational hygienists who can perform atmospheric monitoring of workplace sites for the presence of respirable airborne crystalline silica.
Lighting from natural and/or artificial sources needs to be provided for employees to ensure working conditions that are appropriate to the nature of the work, the location of the work and the times at which the work is performed.
Noise is one of the most widespread and underestimated of workplace hazards. Workers exposed to high noise levels are at risk of suffering permanent noise induced hearing loss. Noise at lower levels can also be a hazard.
Confined spaces and poorly ventilated areas can be found in many workplaces. Incidents in such areas have resulted in serious injury, death and sometimes multiple fatalities.
